Tad Robinson zu Gast bei Dennis Gruenling

Beitrag: # 122617Beitrag Juke »

Am kommenden Samstag (3.4.) ist Tad Robinson der Gast in Dennis Gruenlings wöchentlichem Webinar. Dennis schreibt:
TAD ROBINSON - Originally from the East Coast, Tad Robinson relocated first to Indiana and then to Chicago where he became the lead vocalist for Dave Specter and The Bluebirds. Word spread fast of this soulful vocalist, who could also play a mean harp. Many solo albums followed suit and Tad became a recognized name on the International Blues circuit, performing at clubs, concerts and festivals worldwide.

It takes just one listen to hear the soul and feeling that Tad puts into his singing, and his harp playing is no different. Often recognized as one of the best soul-blues singers on the scene, Tad will join me this Saturday for an in-depth look at his influences, his harp playing approach, his career, and thoughts on all things Harp, Blues & Soul related!

TOPICS TO BE DISCUSSED:

Beginnings in NYC and Indiana

John Hammond bei Dennis Gruenling

Beitrag: # 122874Beitrag Juke »

JOHN HAMMOND - Get ready for a very special webinar this week! It’s truly an honor to have as my special guest someone who has been a treasure on the blues scene for decades…John Hammond. Since the early 1960’s John Hammond has not only been making records, but widely acclaimed recordings respected by his peers and heroes alike, and has had literally a Who’s Who of many of the most important Blues-Roots musicians record and/or perform with him.

However, what makes John so great, is just John. Truly a force of nature to watch as he performs, he has carried on the traditional of a solo blues performer with a sense of sincerity, taste, style, virtuosity, and coolness that most musicians barely hint at nowadays. Please join us for this unique Q&A conversation with a true legend on the Blues scene, and hear all about his early influences, heroes, career highlights, musical approach, and so much more. Reserve your spot early for this one!!

John RARELY does this type of thing online, so please tune in to this VERY SPECIAL WEBINAR!

TOPICS TO BE DISCUSSED:

Beginnings in the Blues
Performing & Recording from the 1960's on
Biggest Blues and Harmonica Influences
The Energy of the Blues
Finding your Own Voice in a Traditional Genre

I-CHORD SOLOING - On this week’s Q&A Webinar we will be talking about a topic that I bring up a lot and always get more questions about…soloing on the I Chord. I will walk you through different practice ideas for ALL levels of abilities from beginning soloist to advanced, and demonstrate lots of ideas to work on. In addition to this, I will also be breaking down some licks and riffs from some of the coolest classic Blues Harp solos that were just on the I chord, from the likes of Little Walter, Big Walter, and others.

Soloing on the I chord can not only be exciting and freeing, but also scary when you don’t know where to go or what to do. However, it is truly the best way to develop a bigger vocabulary and keep your ideas and phrasing fresh. Join me for this Study Session on I-Chord Soloing this week, and bring all your questions!

TOPICS TO BE DISCUSSED:

How To Start Practicing This
Developing New Ideas
Practice Suggestions for ALL Levels
How To NOT Get Stuck
Demonstrations of What & How to Practice
Breaking Down Classic Little Walter Phrases
Breaking Down Classic Big Walter Phrases
Näheres wie immer bei Dennis.

Martin Lang zu Gast bei Dennis Gruenling

Beitrag: # 123701Beitrag Juke »

Am kommenden Samstag (5.6.) ist Martin Lang zu Gast in Dennis Gruenlings Webinar.
Special Guest MARTIN LANG - Chicago-based harp player and vocalist Martin Lang is deeply dedicated to the sound, the feel and the tone of the original post-war blues masters. For three decades, Chicago Blues fans and harp players in the know have known about Martin, and if you don’t know about him by now, here is your chance.

With years of experience backing up Tail Dragger, as well as countless performances with other artists like Willie Buck, Pinetop Perkins, Dave Myers and many more, Martin has much to draw from when we dig deep into what Chicago Blues Harmonica is all about. His most recent release “Bad Man” (2020) is like a step back into time at the heyday of Chicago Blues, with sounds and tones you don’t hear many other places. WIth Martin Lang’s experience studying the music, recording in the studio, performing on the bandstand and teaching his own workshops, this will be a session chock full of lessons to learn, both musical and historical. Don’t Miss it!

TOPICS TO BE DISCUSSED:

Chicago Blues experiences
Performing with Tail Dragger
What does "Chicago Blues" entail
Recording and touring lessons
Playing with "feeling"
What goes into "good tone"
Näheres findet ihr - wie immer - auf des Gruenlings Webseite.
